    The essential oil, extracted from the flowering top of the plant and the leaves, has a warm, spicy, slightly sweet scent.

    Origanum onites, also known as Cretan Oregano, is considered to be superior in quality, as an aromatic, medicinal, and culinary herb. It is high in vitamins C, E, and K, as well as magnesium, zinc, potassium, and iron.

    Known since ancient times, oregano owes its name to the union of two Greek words: "oros," which means "mountain," and "ganos," which means "joy," "joy of the mountains."

    OLEA EUROPEA (extra virgin olive oil) from organic farming, ORIGANUM ONITES (wild oregano from Crete, GR) extract of flowers, leaves and stem.

    The ancient Greeks believed that this herb was created by the goddess Aphrodite. She wanted it to be a symbol of the joy that grows in her garden. The Greeks crowned the spouses with garlands of oregano, as it was considered a symbol of happiness. Its therapeutic properties were already known and appreciated by the Egyptians; in Roman times it was also widely used in the kitchen. In medicine it was used thanks to its penetrating scent as a disinfectant of environments during epidemics, burning it in large braziers together with thyme and mint.
